What is wrong with potential victims being able to shoot back when caught in a fish bowl?
Take NIU, Virginia Tech and other assorted mall or large crowd shootings. With 42% of American Homes being armed if we were able to defend ourselves with more,less or equal fire power perhaps there would be less fatalities and the "shooter" would take into account that someone may shoot back and foil his plan.
And what's with the "shooter" needing to take others with him to the grave?
Comment/question: Even if we were to disarm america the nuts would use other means to achieve their ultimate END, no?
Comment/question: I don't own a gun, but it seems America is a violent country and isn't taking it's meds. I think it's time I stop and think of what I should do just incase someone, stops taking their medicine? It would be nice if when I enter a crowded room the room attendant should give a brief "exit in a crisis" presentation like a flight attendant.
I think you'll find that countries that have stricter gun laws than America have less of those types of shootings. The idea that it would be safer with more people carrying guns seems illogical to me.
Although you might get lucky and be able to shoot a mass murdering nutter the benefit would be outweighed by all the other deaths and accidents that would be caused.

Can I put 5 newly acquired society finches in a flight cage with about 15 other assorted finches?
I just got the societies today and discovered them all cuddled up together in their basket for sleepy time. So cute! Will I be upsetting their family unit? they are a mommy and a daddy and 3 babies that were hatched last March
You need to keep your societies quarantined for at least 2 weeks before you introduced the new birds to your existing flock.
Not doing so could cause problems if the societies have anything that is communicable to the other birds.
Not only that - but as an african finch species, they can also harbor certain bugs they are themselves resistant to (campylobacter and cochlosoma in particular) but other finches (particularly australian varieties - zebras, gouldians, other grass finches, etc) are not.
If your societies are carriers of these diseases and you introduce them to a flock of birds who have never been exposed - they will pass this on through food, water, and exposure to feces and it can potentially kill your other birds.
My advice - keep the societies separate if you have australian finches.. at least until you can get them tested (a vet can do this) to show they are negative for these two diseases.
