What kind of benefits are available for a disabled veteran with disabled child?

I am a disabled vet with a disabled child to care for. It is getting hard for me to care for him by myself. Will the VA give us any benefits to help? I need sitting services, transportation, self care, medication assistance for my disabled chid.

You can try Social Security (SSI), Medicare, county.help. I'm raising my brothers boy and he has a mental illness. These agencies that are there to help it's like pulling wisdom teeth. Good luck. I'm a vet but the boy isn't on any documents try talking to the VA. They should have something for family.

Does a Disabled Child = a Disabled Family?

Does a Disabled Child = a Disabled Family?

$12.27

Many people attempt to address issues concerning developmentally disabled children and their families from a purely academic viewpoint. Others have very personal experiences with little or no professional or academic background. Both can be beneficial and provide helpful information, but they both also have potential pitfalls and limitations. The purpose here is to use personal experience along with professional and academic information to help professionals, parents, and siblings in their adjustment to their new journey. The goal is to assist families in ways of achieving balance between taking care of the needs of parents to continue to develop themselves, their relationships, their non-disabled children, and the disabled family member. The ideas presented here are not intended to address specific disabilities. They are to provide perspective and some general helpful ideas that can be implemented regardless of the disability of the child.

Future of the Disabled in Liberal Society

Future of the Disabled in Liberal Society

$22

The Future of the Disabled in Liberal Society questions developments in human genetic research from the perspective of persons with mental disabilities and their families. Hans S. Reinders argues that when we use terms such as disease and defect to describe conditions that genetic engineering might well eliminate, we may also be assuming that disabled lives are deplorable and horrific. Reinders points out that the possibility of preventing disabled lives is at odds with our commitment to the full inclusion of disabled citizens in society. The tension between these different perspectives is of concern to all of us as genetic testing procedures proliferate. Reinders warns that preventative uses of human genetics might even become a threat to the social security and welfare benefits that help support disabled persons and their families.Reinders also argues that this conflict cannot be resolved or controlled on the level of public morality. Because a liberal society makes a commitment to individual freedom and choice, its members can consider the diagnostic and therapeutic uses of human genetics as options available to individual citizens. A liberal society will defend reproductive freedom as a matter of principle. Citizens may select their offspring in accord with their own personal values. Reinders concludes that the future of the mentally disabled in liberal society will depend on the strength of our moral convictions about the value of human life, rather than on the protective force of liberal morality. This powerful critique of contemporary bioethics is sure to become required reading for those interested in human development, special education, ethics, philosophy, andtheology.

The Disabled Mom: A Supplemental Guide for Mothers Who Are Ill, Disabled, or Have a Chronic Condition

The Disabled Mom: A Supplemental Guide for Mothers Who Are Ill, Disabled, or Have a Chronic Condition

$12.74

The DisAbled Mom is a great book written for any woman who has a chronic illness. This self-help book was written by Tonya Daughrity who has Fibromyalgia, asthma, osteoarthritis and is losing her eyesight. She wanted to learn to care for her children on her own and be as independent as possible, but found little information available to suit her needs. She knew she did not want others to have to go through the trial process she did. The book starts before pregnancy even begins and gives help and suggestions in a positive, up-beat manner for chronically ill moms through their child's first birthday. This book is simply a must for anyone looking for tips to help them raise one or more children while battling a chronic illness of their own.
