LED Shootout! A Review of the Fenix TK40 and the Mag Light Flashlight

These days you can find a super bright LED flashlight that will light up the sky with the same power as a nuclear blast.

Thanks to the advances in technology, a good quality LED flashlight can put out a truly amazing amount of light. You want to be careful, though, not to be fooled. The torch I'm referring to is of a far better quality than the inexpensive LED light one you can purchase at the local dollar store or market. You will illuminate about 984 feet, or 300 meters, with the beam from this torch. The centre of this hot bright beam, throws over a great distance that is hard to be equaled. The spill of light from the Fenix TK40 is marvelous. My entire backyard comes into view with this light. The torch comes with four power output levels to choose from. You can stick to low, medium, and high, or go with turbo.

For the absolute best super bright LED flashlight, you have GOT to try the TK40 on turbo mode. The TK40 on turbo mode is actually brighter than the high beams on the cars on the road; you could use the TK40 instead of the lights on your car if there was an emergency situation that made doing such a thing a necessity! Imagine having the same amount of light in your hands as the high beams of your car.

When kept on the low setting, you will get 150 hours of light. That's right, 6 days of light on low setting. Seriously, do you NEED six full days of light? On the fantastically bright turbo mode you are in for a full 2 hours of practically day light. The turbo mode puts out 630 lumens, in case you were wondering. Out of every LED torch or flashlight I have seen or used, the TK40 is by far the brightest. Best of all, it runs on AA batteries. This is just fantastic, because you can pick up AA batteries pretty much anywhere you stop before camping or going bush -- any gas station or little shop is bound to have them. Personally I use eneloop rechargeable batteries -- they have a great shelf life once charged and are just a good all around battery. They also hold their charge a lot longer than most rechargeable batteries I have tried. You don't have to worry about coming back a month or so after charging the batteries and discovering that the charge has worn off and the device isn't working. Comparison to a 3D cell mag light shows that there is, in fact, no comparison to be made. The mag light is blown away by the Fenix TK40 LED by function, weight, size, brightness, light throw, and run time. The Fenix TK40 is approximately the same thickness as the mag light, but only two-thirds of the length. It is a comfortable fit in your hand and balances well for ease of use. Besides the regular settings, you also have the options of slow flash, fast flash, SOS flash, and strobe. These can come in handy for night time activities or when a beacon may become necessary to attract attention to your position. The SOS flashing option is, of course, an obvious live saving option.

Yes, this tv is HD, but not full HD (1080P). Keep in mind that you won't be able to see the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen size smaller than a 46". The only source for 1080P in the market today is the blu ray disc movies.

I want to burn some .avi files for her to watch. Can I put them straight onto a DVD disk? Do I need to convert them to a different format? I've never burned for dvd players, just for computer, so would appreciate help. I'm not sure how to tell if a dvd player can support avi files or not.

Most standard dvd players won't play avi. files, especially the ones that come integrated in the tv.

Nowadays dvd players which are compatible with avi are cheap but not easy to find. I would personally look online on eBay or Amazon. You don't need a fancy make or model, so long as it says AVI compatible. From my experience, cheap isn't not necessarily bad when it comes to these machines, that's one thing I learnt from buying dvd players.

But instead of spending more money on an avi. compatible dvd player, you could look online for an avi to dvd converter. There are plenty of free ones out there but just be wary of the ones containing malware and such... but mostly they are easy to find and use. You'll also need an ISO burner, again its very easy to find."Daemon tools lite" works best for me.
The only downside to this is that the process is quite intensive on your pc, so if you use an older machine than it could take ages to convert one file.

I am turning my garage into a game room. What color should I paint the walls? I have a black pool table in it.

The felt on the pool table is purple and I am going to put a black and white checker board design tile on the floor. I also have a couple of brown cabinets on the walls, would you leave them brown or paint them? If I should paint them, what color? Would you paint the garage door also? It is white.

How do you refinish a cabinet that is made out of plastic?

I have an old cabinet that the doors are very pretty but they are plastic how do I get the stain off and restain a litter color? The cabinet is also made out of particl board is it just as easy to start over instead of try to replace so it will match the stain I have?

Firstly if you are trying to remove just little portions of paint ! Its nearly impossible.

What you can do is use a thinner ( available in any hardware store ) to remove the paint out and then you can just paint the entire cabinet with an airbrush and then apply a coat of Clear coat just like you would paint a car.

Is my Marble Molly still sick or just weak?

About a month 'n half ago (perhaps longer) I realized my male marble molly appeared to have the beginning of popeye, so I immediately isolated him into a hospital tank to treat it. After the treatment period his popeye was no longer visible. I kept him isolated for an additional 2-3 weeks just to be careful before I introduced him back into the main tank.

He seemed to have slimmed out while he was seperated from the main tank. Even now that he's in the main tank with the others, he's still rather skinny and is lingering at the bottom of the tank under some plants. He doesn't bother with the other mollies and rarely swims around, he'll swim about half way to the surface for food; to get what the other fish have caused to sink. But that's as far as he'll go, and he'll return to his spot under the plants. Or if he's really frisky he'll dart full speed around the tank once and then go back to his spot.

Has anyone else experienced a fish acting like this after having popeye?

After an infection of any kind (including pop eye), fish are still fairly vulnerable to a secondary infection. The stress from the first infection, and then medication leaves fishes' immune system compromised for a time, and at this point, any pathogens that the fish may be carrying, but not necessarily infected with, can move in. At the moment, it sounds like internal parasites are the issue-- I have a Ram being treated for internal parasites right now with symptoms identical to yours (but mine refused to eat at all). The sunken belly is a major indicator, as is the reclusiveness. I would re-isolate him to a quarantine/hospital tank and begin treatment with metronidazole (Fish Zole, Metronidazole, Flagyl), preferably in its food (soak the food in metronidazole-treated water, and dump all the extra water into the isolation tank), as this will obviously go directly to the infection, but if it refuses to eat the food, treating the water is fine.
