Does anyone know if spinning a cat by the tail will hurt the cat?

I agree, it is animal cruelty. I was trying to prove a point to someone that is stupid.

Imagine being picked up by some manic giant by the base of the spine and spun round against the bone. would that hurt? (I broke my spine some time ago - it hurt so what did that say? - that I wanted to fall downstairs again because I enjoyed it? - I don't think so!)
I do hope you don't know anyone who has done this or if you did you have already reported them - if not do so! NOW!

Had the market gone against you, you would know in advance that your loss would be exactly your stake x quoted points; i.e. 48 x$5... $240. Simple, predictable and manageable.

Now let's instead say we opened a spread bet and the market stands at 5200 and again you choose to risk $5 per point, expecting the market to rise. For every point the market moves up you gain $5 and for every point the market moves down you lose $5. Let's also say you place a stop at 5100, just in case the market should move down, against you.
With the binary bet you need not care how far the market moves one way or another. All you need is for the market to close higher by the end of the day to win. Simplification of the variables involved makes it easier to manage your money.

With the binary bet you know your maximum win being 52 x $5 = $260 and your maximum loss is $48 x $5 = $240.

The spread bet is a different story; your whole level of profit or loss is DEPENDENT on how far the market moves during the day. If the market, for example, dropped in early trading and you hit your stop at 5100, that would be the end of your trade and you would have lost $500 (i.e.: 100 point drop to your stop x $5 per point.)

Even if the market did close higher without hitting your stop first and closed at 5220 your win would still be less than the binary bet, as your win would be 20 x $5 being $100, whereas the binary bet would win $260.

Your only other alternative, to take the stop out on the spread bet could open you up to unlimited losses. Say the market fell 250 points on that day, you would lose $1,250 whereas your maximum loss with the binary bet would only ever be $240.

In fact the only time you would gain more with the spread bet versus the binary bet is if the market did not touch your stop and actually closed higher than 53 points up on the day.
Combination strategies can certainly be lucrative, but as a beginner, it would be financially prudent to limit your variables and focus on building solid foundations to make your experience of trading not only enjoyable but also more profitable in the longer term.
The binary bet suits all markets: forex trading, shares and commodities and can be employed over different time frames to suit your schedule.

It is no coincidence that there is an increasing groundswell of traders who agree that binary bets and fixed odds products are an excellent tool for both new traders and more experienced traders alike.

The Light Transistor

The light transistor uses liquid crystal to change the direction of light when two beams intersect. When liquid crystal is used in electronics, the crystals change direction to show a black dispay like on a wrist watch. This component acts like an AND gate in electronics. AND gates have two or more inputs and no output unless all the inputs are present. Although this is not the other way to control light without an electrical input, further testing and optimization may lead to a revolutionary new type of computer that processes information at the speed of light. This component was invented in 1998 by Daniel Nase when he took apart a standard LCD screen and used two laser pointers to cause the liquid crystals to change direction. Since then the popularity of Photonics has increased with numerous new components created by professors at the University of Washington.

Daniel designed and built the AMTECH Thermonuclear Converter at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in July of 1997. This nuclear device provides electricity to deep space satellites and was created during the Pathfinder Mission. He also worked on X-ray tubes, electroplating, making silicon carbide crystals, electronic drafting, and generating 3D images in Silicon using two scanning lasers. He earned this prestigious summer internship through the MSEP program with Scott Minnix at the University of Washington and Linda Rodgers at NASA.

 

 

 

In 1997 and 1998 Daniel helped build a mainframe computer from scratch as part of the Work Study Program. He also learned basic AutoCAD and networked all of the computers in the University’s four-story Astrophysics building. After he built the mainframe, Daniel ran tests and recorded events in the University of Washington’s fusion reactor and also worked on the RAM Accelerator. 

 

 

 

Daniel took a non-executive role in Infinity Group to work as an Installation / Retrofit Engineer III for several years in the semiconductor industry. This is were he applied his training in the military by doing work in network engineering, applications engineering, robotics, UV optics, pneumatics and advanced electronics troubleshooting for KLA-Tencor Corp. He was responsible for installing and aligning Starlight and Lightning series reticle inspection systems throughout the world. Daniel is a very talented Strategic Planner and possesses a unique gift for Corporate Finance and solving complex business problems. Daniel Nase actively performed as a Business Consultant with Nase Consulting in a wide array of industries over the last five years with focuses mainly on Project Management, Human Resources and Corporate Finance. Mainly, he assisted his mentors with PhD’s because he hadn’t earned his MBA yet. Daniel Nase was also trained as a tax planner, stock broker and financial advisor at American Express. Star Wars Novels?

Hi, just starting to read Star Wars novels. I'm 35 so don't want to read any of the young people's novels. I'm starting with Tim Zahn's books in the following below. Do people have suggestions about Star Wars adult literature of equal/better standard as from what I can clean there seems to be a fair amount of variation in standard of writing. If possible I wan to try and read the good proper adult novels in some sort of chronology.

2. Outbound Flight (should this be read prior to Thrawn tri/du/ology or before Survivor's Quest? or doesn't it matter?)
3. Thrawn Triology
4. Thrawn Duology
5. Survivor's Quest.

I would suggest reading Outbound Flight first, if you can. It takes place five years after Episode 1. From there, I'd say you have the chronology correct (Allegiance is between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back).

I would also suggest the Jedi Academy trilogy, as the references to Kyp Durron and Mara's training in the Thrawn Duology (which I'm currently re-reading myself) will make more sense. I, Jedi is an interesting take on some of the same events (if memory serves, it is narrated by Corran Horn). Kevin Anderson is a fairly good author.

After that, it will depend greatly on what era you are interested in. Do you like post-ROTJ or stories set within the trilogies themselves? My reading tends to center around the original trilogy and the inter-trilogy time period as Lord Vader is my favorite character.

If you could provide a bit more direction as to which era you want to read about, I would be happy to supply you with a list of books.

Adapter to convert standard 3.5mm audio into air craft headset plug?

Been sim-flying a while and now I'm going to start flight training. The headset I use on the computer actually is quality enough, in audio and noise reduction, to be used in the aircraft, it just has 3.5mm connections. I've seen audio adapter to go from 1/8" to 1/4" jacks and stuff like that, is there anything to go 3.5mm to PJ-055/PJ-068?
Just want to make it clear, the headset I have if for the Computer, I want to use it in an aircraft. all the adapters I've found so far go the other way

You can find adapters at Radio Shack BUT they won't adapt the impedance of the headset!
Most aircraft headsets are either 300 or 150 ohms and they won't work well with the straight 8 ohms of your computer headset!

You can either BUILD the adapter or order one from Sporty's or a local avionics shop. You will need to match the impedance if you want them to work correctly.

What type of audio plug does Emirates airline use?

I will soon be flying on an Emirates airline flight to Dubai, and i was wondering what type of headphone jack plug they use on the seats for the entertainment system. Are they a standard audio jack or do they use those airline ones with two plugs?

Headphones are are of the single overhead band type , with a single 3.5mm jack plug.
