A Deep Red Mahogany Finish
What finish to use on outside door?
I have a solid mahogany door that has no storm door and faces the morning sun about 6-12 hours a day. I used Helsman finish on. It only lasts about a year. Anyone know of some better stuff?
Might try a marine supply store for recommendations on finishes used on exterior "brightwork".
Considering the cost of a solid mahogany door a few extra dollars for a premium marine varnish is worth it.
The really good stuff is relatively soft & takes dings well
Polyurethanes form a harder skin , will scab.& are harder to remove .

I would like to comment on your video ” A deep red mahogany finish”Marc, you really make this project look so simple that anyone could do it,like me.Great information and instruction. This will make me try this myself now.Great job and it looks like it came out fantastic.Now if i can convince my wife to let me try this to her grandmother’s dining room table.I’ll let you know how it turns out.
